WTF happened to WTF Industries and Discord dot Art?

Chris Nichols has just released a statement to explain why he and a few other NFT enthusiasts left Discord dot Art/WTF Industries. Nichols admitted he released this statement in an effort to balance the revisionist narratives put out by Taylor.wtf and Foodmasku.

While Taylor.wtf originally created Discord dot Art/WTF industries, Nichols insists that the community initially owned the server. He claimed, “From the start, we co-created the vision and helped run operations and management.” Taylor even went as far as publicly stating that the server was not his. He also transferred ownership to Foodmasku.

After giving their all to the project, Nichols and his colleagues began to notice that something was wrong. Two new janitors joined the team without community discussion. The “owners” and a core group started making all of the decisions. In addition, the permissions of the janitors were removed. What’s more – community members were forced to commit to exclusivity agreements.

WTF Industries takes a downturn

Harassment, abuse and gaslighting followed. To make matters worse, the owners and the core group started pitting people against each other. The values of community building and ownership were discarded.

“Emergency meetings were held to address this, many of which Taylor refused to attend; where Clare and Drew [the new janitors] insisted they were just following the orders from the owners,” revealed Nichols. “Foodmasku stood by and claimed ignorance.”

Nichols and his colleagues decided to walk away. Shortly thereafter, Discord dot Art was officially rebranded as WTF Industries. Unfortunately, this mass resignation did not lead the WTF Industries owners to change their behaviour. The owners ignored any evidence. More alarmingly, no one was held accountable.

In the face of the controversy, the WTF Industries Twitter account disappeared. As a result, many are now questioning the community’s future.
