The major music label and entertainment group Universal Music Group has just announced its partnership with Curio. Moving forward, Curio will be UMG’s global distributor of officially licensed NFT projects.
Universal Music Group is the first major music company to partner up with Curio. As a result of this partnership, UMG will be able to form exclusive collaborations and create and launch NFT projects. In addition, this partnership offers greater scalability and flexibility to issue authentic fan-oriented collectibles. What’s more, UMG will be able to leverage Curio’s groundbreaking technology to curate exclusive fan experiences in the NFT space.
Michael Nash, Universal Music Group’s Executive Vice President, Digital Strategy, commented on the partnership: “With Curio, our labels will have a secure and dedicated platform to host these premium projects. It will provide new opportunities for collectors and fans from around the world to acquire unique pieces; inspired by their favourite artists and labels.”
Curio has already worked with some of the biggest names in entertainment. In fact, it differentiates itself from its competitors by focusing on the entertainment sector and serving fans through digital collectibles. Universal Music Group and Curio are already working on the first batch of projects together. In fact, they will be dropping the first NFT project in March, which will feature Capitol Music Group artist Calum Scott.
This is not Universal Music’s first metaverse project. In December 2021, UMG announced that it will be working with Genies to release NFT avatars of its artists and wearables. All in all, by investing in Web3, Universal Music continues to cement its position as one of the world’s leading entertainment companies.
