Tron founder Justin Sun was called out yesterday for his complaints about not receiving a crypto airdrop for the stablecoins that the TRON community donated to the Ukrainian official DAO.
Sun wrote, “Answering to the humanitarian appeal from Mykhailo Fedorov, TRON community has donated over $1.2M in USDT. But now the airdrop just ignores them completely. It is just UNFAIR, We need to fix it!”
How has Justin Sun, Tron’s founder, harmed his reputation with a single tweet?
The above-mentioned tweet invited a lot of criticism for asking something in return for his donation in this time of crisis. NFT influencer, Farokh.eth was among one of the critics. He explains his perspective, “You’re screaming about “unfairness” while the people of Ukraine are hiding.”. After a series of back and forth comments, Justin Sun blocked Farokh.eth.
Clearly, Justin’s tweet has influenced the community’s perception of him and TRON. The current level of hostility toward TRON’s founder is quite clear through the community’s comments such as “sick mentally” or “#TRON awfully showing what matters the most for them in this terrible time.”
Justin Sun defended himself in a series of tweets, saying, “It’s my duty to protect #TRON users’ interests.” This, however, did not go well for him. The comments that followed the tweets were also critical of him. In short, the tweets harmed his reputation even more. As a result, after weighing the pros and cons of the situation, he finally disabled the comments on his tweet.
On February 26th, the official Twitter account of Ukraine announced that it’s “now accepting cryptocurrency donations.” The short tweet included the country’s wallet addresses for BTC, ETH, and USDT.
