The MMO NFT game SkateX has an exciting addition to its team, as professional skateboarder Stevie Williams joins them. The game is currently under production by Block Tackle — a new Web3 game studio. The announcement states that Stevie Williams will participate as an advisor.
Stevie Williams, the founder of the skatewear clothing website DGK, will help in several ways. He will bring his unique style to the upcoming game, having input in the development. What’s more, he will advise on designing skateboards and streetwear for SkateX.
In a statement, Stevie Williams said, “I get offers and opportunities that involve skating all the time,” said Stevie Williams. “I pass on almost everything, though, because projects need to be authentic and involve culture; they need to have roots based on legit skate history. I found out about SkateX not too long ago, and it’s clear that SkateX is for the culture, and that’s what I’m about. Get your boards ready.”
SkateX game brings board culture to the virtual world
The Stevie Williams decks and merchandise for use in the SkateX game are available as NFTs. This partnership will help create an individualized look for all skateboarders in the game.
This is important as individuality and the ability to express yourself through your clothing and board are critical aspects of skate culture. Now, users can also do the same in the virtual world of SkateX with NFTs.
So far, the project is proving hugely successful. Although the game is due for release later this year, they are already selling out in minutes. The first NFT collection of SkateX 1080 3D-animated skateboards went on sale on April 5th via the Magic Eden NFT marketplace. Significantly, it sold out in minutes. Finally, he next SkateX NFT drop is due in May.
