Kia’s first NFT series has officially dropped on the Tezos blockchain. The series features the Robo Dog NFT collection, which is the star of Kia’s Super Bowl spot. This robot pet NFT is made available through the collaboration with NFT platform sweet.io and The Petfinder Foundation.
The main beneficiary of this initiative is the animals that will finally find their forever homes through Petfinder.com. 90% of all the proceeds from the primary sales will go to the foundation. In addition, 10% royalties from each NFT transaction on the secondary market will also benefit the animals.
The Robo Dog NFT launch will follow the below schedule:
February 11th: 10,000 Robo Dog Adoption Pass NFTs dropped on sweet.io for free. Holders of these passes will get presale access to 1 of 10,000 generative Robo Dog NFTs on February 18th.
February 13th: 6 one-of-a-kind, art inspired Robo Dog NFTs will be made available with a starting bid of $299. The auction will run through February 18th at 12pm ET. This auction coincides with the NFL 2022 Super Bowl LVI.
February 18th: Finally, the 10,000 doggos will be made available on the NFT platform, coinciding with the NBA All-Star weekend. Holders of the Adoption Pass will gain access at 3pm ET, allowing them to purchase their pets at $20.22 each. Subsequently, the public sale will begin at 7pm ET, allowing anyone without an adoption certificate to purchase a Robo Dog.
Kia animal rescue
Kia is an integral part of this CSR project, using its resources to contribute to animal welfare in the country. Russell Wager, Kia America’s vice president of marketing stressed that there have been an increasing number of homeless animals recently. Evidently, this can be attributed to the wave of owners returning to work, surrendering their pets to animal shelters. Therefore, this initiative can help more pets find the homes that they deserve through The Petfinder Foundation.
Robo Dog NFTs
The Robo Dog NFTs comes preprogrammed with traits such as breed, age, size, gender, coat length and color. An interesting aspect of the collection is that older and larger dogs are more scarce within the collection. This is opposed to the real world since they are often less desired. Therefore, this programming may cause them to be more sought after due to their scarcity within the 10k collection.
Kia America
Presently, Kia America resides in Irvine, California, offering top automotive quality throughout the country. The company is gaining traction worldwide, offering a range of gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electrified vehicles. In addition, they are also the “Official Automotive Partner” of the NBA, NBA All-Star, NBA Cares, and title partner of the Kia NBA All-Star MVP award.
Sweet
Sweet is an NFT platform based in New York. The company has been able to attract top creators, sports, entertainment, and consumer brands worldwide. Entering 2022, Sweet will continue to offer various programs that will reach both sophisticated and novice NFT collectors. Tom Mizzone, CEO of Sweet, is extremely excited about this initiative, being a dog owner himself.
