Project PXN NFT revealed their much-awaited Ghost Division NFT collection last week. However, it gained scrutiny on Twitter because some artworks look similar to popular anime characters.
Some PXN Ghost Division NFTs Are Popular Anime Characters
Phantom Network NFT or Project PXN NFT is one of the most promising projects with more than 400k followers on its official Twitter account. Its latest collection received so much hype before its reveal. However, now that the artworks are out, there are concerns whether the project will face copyright issues because of some of its anime-inspired NFTs.
For instance, some NFTs from the Ghost collection look like the characters from popular animes such as Demon Slayer, One Piece, and One Punch Man. There are also specific Ghost Division NFTs similar to some Overwatch and Genshin Impact characters.
Through a post, Kei, the Art Director of the project, tried to address the concerns of its NFT holders. According to him:
“As a space, we all seem to be largely fine with derivative collections of other NFT projects and even paying homage to things in pop culture that had a large influence on our lives. There are plenty of occasions where various elements of culture are brought into a collection.”
“PXN has a very strong core collection, which has a ridiculous amount of crazy and original pieces. These original pieces are what define and showcase our DNA. Frankly speaking, the anime pieces were never a huge selling point.”
At the end of the blog, he proposed a solution to the NFT holders:
“We will be pushing out blank images to act as placeholders for some of the NFTs in question. These are Legendaries and Epics in the collection that we deem as problematic pieces that are in the strike zone. Probably around 15–20 pieces stand out to me at this point. Anyone that is affected will have 10e compensated when their NFT is re-rolled into another Epic or Legendary PXN original.”
