OG Ethereum NFT Game, Ethermon, is entering a new chapter with the launch of a new generation of creatures that feature different types of rarity. The new set of “Mons” on top of the existing 200 pushes forward the play-to-earn component of the gameplay.
Ethermon is a pioneer Ethereum based blockchain gaming. It initially launched in 2017, making it one of the longest-standing NFT projects. The Mons used to exist within the 2D turn-based version. However, it has moved to the 3D open-world through Decentraland.
The Genesis Reborn Set
After moving to gasless and green Polygon blockchain, more than 70,000 players flocked to the game to explore the play-to-earn ecosystem. Since the userbase boomed, the project decided to expand the universe by releasing a new set of Mons on the Polygon blockchain.
The Genesis Reborn Set will be based on the original Genesis Mons with a total of 202 Classes. Through this new release, new members of the community will have the opportunity to try out the game’s play-to-earn component.
Of course, there’s a twist.
The original Mons didn’t have a rarity rating but the reborn creatures will possess different rarity values. Another difference is that the Genesis Reborn created are slightly weaker than their original Genesis counterparts. There’s also a bit of visual change in terms of the colors. Finally, approximately 10% of the Genesis Mons will not be re-released in the Genesis Reborn set. The Mons discontinued are determined based on considerations of it being overpowering in stats.
Let’s Meet the New Mons
Long-time Ethermon players holding the original Alpha-set Genesis Mons have nothing to worry about despite the roll-out of new Mons. The developers ensured that the new-generation Mons would continue to strengthen and add value to their assets. To explain, as more Mons enter the universe, the original ones become even rarer.
The excitement of the community is at an all-time high. So Ethermon is releasing a rarity guide for both the Genesis and the new Genesis Reborn sets.
The 5 new rarity classifications are: common, uncommon, rare, legendary and mythic. As part of the roll-out, Ethermon is also introducing three new ways to catch the Reborn Mons. First is through the “Starter Store,” which will house inventory of every single element Type Mons of Common and Uncommon rarity. Then, the RIFT (Booster Packs) System distributes the new Mons in the form of pack releases. Lastly, players can get the new Mons through DCL Egg Nest Meta hosted by Decentraland.
Why Polygon?
Ethermon joins the long list of NFT games moving to Polygon. The Ethereum scaling project is establishing itself as the go-to blockchain for gaming projects. To compliment that, Polygon have established a new division to attract big brands and franchisees looking to launch games and NFTs. Polygon Gaming Studio is allocating $100 Million to fund new gaming NFT projects.
