American singer and entrepreneur, Paris Hilton has claimed she is the mysterious identity behind the anonymous NFT artist, Pak. Pak currently holds the record for selling the most expensive NFT ever. Last December, they created history by selling ‘The Merge’ for a whopping $91.8 million. What’s more, his fans even include Elon Musk!
Now, Paris Hilton is claiming that she’s actually Pak. Taking to Twitter last week, she wrote, “I am @muratpak”. If the general trend of top celebrities claiming to be famous NFT personalities is any indication, Hilton is likely just pretending to be the artist.
Snoop Dogg, Sia, and now Paris Hilton
This is not the first time that a famous celebrity has “revealed themselves” as the identity behind anonymous influential NFT accounts. As a matter of fact, the trend likely started with Snoop Dogg. In September 2021, the famous rapper claimed he was the owner of the @CozomoMedici account. His tweet simply read, “I am @CozomoMedici.”
Now, Cozomo Medici is an NFT whale and Twitter influencer with currently around 230,000 followers. They own several NFTs worth millions of dollars, some of them extremely rare. The list includes several Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, and CryptoPunks. He has also bought World of Women artist, Yam Karkai’s original 1/1 NFTs.
However, several media reports had revealed how this couldn’t be true. For instance, Medici had previously posted a picture with Jason Derulo at Lake Como in Italy. While their faces were hidden, Medici appeared to be a White man. Besides, the man in the image was shorter than Derulo, who is 5’10”. Snoop Dogg, on the other hand, is over 6 feet tall. Moreover, based on their tweets, Snoop and Cozomo were often on different continents at the same time.
Similarly, last month, Australian singer-songwriter Sia claimed she is behind Bianca ‘de Medici’s account. Apparently, Bianca claims to be the “Granddaughter of @cozomomedici.” As in the case of Paris Hilton and Snoop Dogg, Sia tweeted then, “I am @BiancaMedici69.”
Paris Hilton and Pak collaborate for NFT
Recently, Paris Hilton collaborated with Pak for their NFT project Ash Chapter II: Metamorphosis. With this partnership, Pak aimed to highlight Paris Hilton’s contribution to the NFT space. In addition, the artist collaborated with 28 other creators for the drop.
“So honored & excited to be a part of $ASH Chapter 2 “Metamorphosis” drop with @MuratPak,” she tweeted on March 24. “So many incredible artists a part of this! Stay tuned… March 28 at Burn.Art”.
Coincidentally, she claimed to be the artist on March 28th as well—the date of the drop. Thus it is likely that she made the claim simply to promote the launch and she is not, in fact, the NFT artist.
