OpenSea agrees to donate an undisclosed amount to ‘Girls Who Code’ after negotiations with Blockchain developer Mr Ø. This news comes after the anonymous ‘white hat’ hacker, Mr Ø, found an exploit in OpenSea.
The Quantum Tech Project/Product Lead wasn’t satisfied with the bounty reward offer for identifying the bug and other stipulations. According to Mr Ø, OpenSea will significantly donate to ‘Girls Who Code.’
In a Tweet this morning, he confirmed the latest update to the situation. He said, “OpenSea has agreed to donate to Girls Who Code in exchange for all our information on their vulnerability. Working out the particulars now.”
Meanwhile, the news that Mr Ø is now willing to share the details of the exploit he found will bring a sigh of relief to OpenSea. Significantly, the NFT platform has just dealt with a considerable exploit that cost them millions and the people on the platform.
OpenSea donate to Girls Who Code but is it enough?
The platform has a certain way they use to deal with people who find bugs. There is a set bounty reward that they give people as thanks. Additionally, some people think that considering what is at stake; it is proportionately low.
Obviously, Mr Ø didn’t believe he was being rewarded enough by OpenSea for what he found and other issues. They required KYC and wanted to pay in Fiat, not cryptocurrency, for a start. This was unacceptable to the white hat hacker. However, now the pair have agreed on how to move forward.
Finally, OpenSea can focus on fixing the bug and Girls Who Code will get some money to put to good causes.
