This week, Google searches for the word ‘NFT’ have officially surpassed the ones for ‘crypto,’ as Google Trends reports show. Although the race is very tight, these statistics prove people’s growing interest in the digital asset market.
“NFT” Google searches skyrocket this month
During the last quarter of this year, “NFT” Google searches skyrocketed. In fact, starting December 16th, the general public seems to have surpassed those for the word “crypto!”
As the graphic below shows, the race is very tight. For example, on December 21st, there were 52 “NFT” searches and 50 “crypto” searches. Even so, the statistics are impressive, proving that NFTs are on an ascending trend.
The same graphic reveals a steady growth for NFT searches globally too. Furthermore, the “NFT” Google searches are very close to surpassing those for “Bitcoin” too, which would definitely be a groundbreaking achievement.
Are NFTs becoming mainstream?
As 2021 is coming to an end, everybody is looking for a conclusion in terms of the NFT market evolution. Not only has the number of “NFT” Google searches exploded, but also the amount of big names and brands that decided to join the trend.
Let’s remember that the total NFT trading volume for Q3 surpassed $10.67 billion. That’s a 704% increase from the second quarter of the year, when the NFT craze truly exploded. For this final quarter, numbers might be even higher.
Of course, part of this growth is due to huge sales involving NFT whales and big companies. One of them, for instance, is Christie’s. The prestigious auction house purchased Beeple’s ‘HUMAN ONE’ NFT for no less than 4,700 ETH ($28,985,000) last month – the priciest NFT sale to date.
