Back in March, rumor had it that Superchief, a New York-based contemporary art gallery, had opened an NFT-dedicated space. It was the first physical NFT gallery space in the world. Obviously, this was revolutionary.
At the time, Superchief’s goal was to deliver “an empowering, inclusive and pro-artist experience” – and so it did. In fact, this was just the beginning of a thriving niche in the physical art world: NFT gallery spaces.
As the digital asset market exploded in 2021, NFT gallery spaces opened all over the world. Therefore, we can now explore NFTs in a fascinating experience where the virtual and physical worlds collide.
That’s the essence of NFT gallery experiences, and we believe everybody should enjoy it at some point. In order to do so, we’ll introduce some of the most incredible physical NFT gallery spaces you can visit right now.
Much like traditional art galleries, each NFT-dedicated space presents a different vision. However, since NFTs helped so many content creators live the American Dream, let’s begin our journey in Hollywood.
The Dream Hollywood Hotel, California
When a 4-star hotel located right in the heart of Hollywood starts displaying NFTs, you know digital assets are here to stay. That’s exactly what the Dream Hollywood Hotel did in November 2021 when its lobby turned into an NFT gallery space.
Accordingly, the luxury hotel partnered with The Crypt Gallery, a virtual powerhouse introducing NFTs to the hospitality industry. The Crypt Gallery founder Athanasios Polihronopoylos curated the exhibit with a clear goal in mind:
“I was thinking ahead in terms of what things would look like as we begin to globally reopen (after the pandemic),” he explained. “I thought artists and marketplaces could lose momentum and collectors like myself who have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into the space.”
An educational NFT gallery for the public
Thanks to this outstanding NFT gallery space, every guest at The Dream Hollywood Hotel will get a glimpse of the NFT art market. In fact, the space is filled with educational plaques explaining the basics of NFTs! Visitors can also scan QR codes to get further information on the artworks displayed and other relevant information.
What’s more, the exhibit will be available for free visits throughout 2022 right in the hotel lobby.
To begin with, visitors can check out amazing artworks by Lefty Out There, Tillavision, NessGraphics, and Lana Denine among others. Notably, visual artist Chad Knight is also featured. The 41-year-old creator is renowned for his hyper-realistic 3D digital sculptures that look mind-blowingly real. Just have a look at one of his top artworks to date:
Clearly, this type of digital art deserves recognition in the physical world – and that’s exactly what The Dream Hollywood Hotel aims to accomplish. This incredible NFT gallery is located in the luxury lobby of The Dream Hollywood Hotel, on 6417 Selma Avenue, Hollywood. This luxury 4-star location is truly unforgettable.
Crypto Portal, Prague
Looking for a unique way to explore NFT artworks? Surprisingly, you can find one in the heart of Prague, deep in a 12th-century cellar. Yes, you read that right – that’s where the Crypto Portal NFT gallery is located.
Less than 3 months after opening, the gallery space already hosted themed exhibitions, reveal parties, and one-of-a-kind experiences. For instance, Crypto Portal teamed up with the social VR platform Somnium Space back in November, allowing guests to explore the metaverse in a unique physical environment.
In fact, this is among the few physical NFT art galleries where visitors can receive digital assets for learning, sharing, or participating in exhibitions. This reward system encourages the general public to join the NFT sphere and discover its most impressive digital artworks.
An NFT gallery for the community
Crypto Portal curator Sam Gittis already noticed the potential of virtual NFT galleries as the market exploded last year:
“I think NFT galleries in real life can foster a similar connection,” Gittis said. “They can be a friendly and interactive way to get a peek into the benefits of cryptocurrencies without much prior knowledge … and the space is a meeting point for a like-minded future-focused community to grow together.”
Undoubtedly, Gittis was right to open this amazing NFT-focused space. The surroundings, the warm welcome, and amazing parties delight visitors’ senses, becoming a portal to the digital world. In order to enjoy this experience, you can visit the Crypto Portal NFT gallery at Staroměstské nám. 480/24, 110 00 Staré Město, Prague.
imnotArt Chicago, Illinois
Alternatively, Chicago’s first physical NFT art gallery also combines digital artworks with educational content for the public en masse. Contrary to its name, imnotArt is a work of art by itself, introducing some of the top artists on the NFT scene.
On June 3rd, 2021, the imnotArt virtual gallery bravely stepped into the physical world with its first real-life NFT exhibition. This amazing space is located in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
Now, Wicker Park is among the trendiest areas in Chicago. This is the place where creativity, fun, and innovation thrive – and so did imnotArt. Up until now, the space hosted a wide array of exhibitions, from its Genesis Exhibition to the NFT photography-focused one called “Balance.”
According to the imnotArt founder Matthew Schapiro, the name of the gallery is a hint at the skepticism surrounding NFT art:
“People are looking at this and they’re incredibly skeptical, like ‘Is this art? What is this?” he explained. “That’s how we came up with our ethos and name – clearly we believe its art and we wanted to build a gallery to showcase it in the best way possible.”
A space where education and entertainment meet
The imnotArt gallery space definitely succeeds in educating the public on NFTs. For example, visitors can easily learn more about each digital artwork displayed by scanning the accompanying QR codes.
The founders’ experience in running a virtual NFT-focused art gallery beforehand definitely came in handy! After all, the imnotArt virtual community already had 600 members when its physical space opened in June.
On January 14th, imnotArt will even take things to the next level. Then, the NFT art gallery will host the Willea Zwey SuperRare Drop Party, a private event for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
The physical imnotArt Chicago gallery is located at 1010 N Ashland Ave, Chicago, and it’s open daily between 12-4 pm CST.
Without a doubt, these impressive NFT art galleries will enter history for becoming a bridge between the virtual and physical worlds. To sum everything up, art is everywhere and it deserves recognition in all mediums.
After all, NFTs have been literally life-changing for so many artists, both physical and digital. From sculptors to photographers and 3D experts, content creators now have the freedom to share their art with us in real life, as well as the metaverse. What’s more, NFT gallery spaces are a great educational tool, allowing newcomers to get a glimpse of the wonderful NFT community too.
