MoonBirds the pfp project from PROOF Collective that recently launched held back 125 NFTs. They’ve seen a historic rise after minting for 2.5 ETH on Saturday to recently hitting a floor of almost 30 ETH. However, MoonBirds free NFTs are being gifted to celebs and being talked about negatively.
The team released a transparency thread yesterday explaining why they held back 125 MoonBird NFTs. Some birds were held back to gift to team members and important people who assisted in the launch of the project.
In addition, some of the remaining supply the team holds will go to marketing and developing strategic partnerships.
MoonBirds Free NFTs for Celebrities
Potentially the most controversial point from the thread is the mention of a “Celebrity Bucket.” Kevin Rose, founder of the PROOF Collective and MoonBirds alludes to the fact that they held some back for gifting celebrities. The NFT community sentiment has mixed feelings about this.
The MoonBirds team mentions the fact that they are only gifting NFTs to people they would love to have involved in the project. Again, they would only gift to people they strictly wanted involved in the community. Consequently, no hard feelings if a celeb decides to sell a gifted MoonBirds free NFT.
With MoonBirds reaching such a high floor so quickly, people are sceptical of the team gifting over $100K NFTs. If the rise in price wasn’t so significant, there would likely be less concern in this tactic. All in all the MoonBirds community is extremely strong and they are looking to keep building on a significant scale.
