Macau’s leading gaming equipment supplier, APE Digital Creations Ltd, has just announced the launch of Mini Macau in The Sandbox. This metaverse experience is a great way for digital travellers to virtually explore everything this Asian tourist destination has to offer.
About Mini Macau
Mini Macau, built in The Sandbox metaverse, is a new business venture that targets tourists who cannot travel to Macau due to COVID-19 restrictions. With this initiative, traditional tourists can become digital travellers and explore some of Macau’s most important tourist attractions. These include Senado Square, St. Paul’s Ruins, the Ah Ma Temple and the Macau Tower.
In addition to these attractions, Mini Macau also has three real Macau brands. These are Choi Heong Yuen Bakery, Seng Fung Jewellery and O Junco de 9 Jades. These metaverse shops allow digital tourists to authentically experience what they would experience physically in Macau. In addition, The Sandbox users can participate in two skill-based games: the “Fortune Cookie” treasure hunt and “Avoid the Tourists.” What’s more, players who successfully complete these challenges can win real-life prizes redeemable in Macau.
Beyond traditional travel
Mini Macau is a prototype for APE Digital Creations Ltd’s upcoming metaverse travel and hospitality platform Resortverse. According to CFO Mr Tony Chan Chi Lun: “In our Resortverse, we plan to bring real-life resorts and travel destinations into the metaverse and provide a platform with gamification and rewards.”
Undoubtedly, the COVID 19 pandemic has led many countries to rethink their tourism sector. In fact, companies such as New Frontier are already working with various governments to offer hybrid travel experiences via NFTs.
