British photographer Luke Nugent has just announced the release of This Other Eden NFT collection. This collection will feature over 25 LGBTQ+ creatives and allies from the worlds of music, fashion and arts.
About This Other Eden NFT collection
Inspired by legendary English artist and activist Derek Jarman’s 1978 film “Jubilee”, This Other Eden NFT collection celebrates the UK’s queer culture. The LGBTQ+ creatives and allies featured in this collection include model and activist Munroe Bergdorf; beauty influencer The Plastic boy; upcoming DJ Woody Cook; and DJ Fat Tony. The NFTs, which are available for purchase from 9 June, will also be exhibited in a London gallery.
The project, co-created by Nifty’s, Temporal Shift and Palm NFT studio, has a philanthropic element. This is because it will donate 50% of the proceeds to The Outside Project; which is the UK’s first permanent centre and shelter for homeless LGBTQ+ individuals.
The Luke Nugent Portrait NFT collection will be released in time for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022. It will therefore commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee of 1977; marking a period of individual freedoms and anti-establishment views that elevated the queer community.
Jim Warboy and Fayann Smith, Founders of Temporal Shift, commented: “This Other Eden documents another kind of royalty, the innovators of queer creativity, a force that so often informs the zeitgeist, but whose heroes remain unsung.”
Curator, Alana Lake, added: “This Other Eden rides the wave of the 4th Industrial revolution with an NFT drop that harnesses the combined strengths of visual art and technology to raise awareness and garner support for The Outside Project.”
