Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is set to be held on June 6 at 10am PT. As the event approaches, various speculations are brewing among the community. This year, will NFTs and Extended Reality earn a spot on Apple’s global stage?
Will there be NFTs and XR in Apple’s WWDC ’22?
The Worldwide Developer Conference usually features the latest Apple innovations. According to Virginia-based MacRumors.com, participants can expect to learn about iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16.
However, the community is increasingly expecting the company to reveal NFTs and Extended Reality capabilities. Recently, Apple Memoji users are discovering that they can see Memoji trading cards when they click on the Memojis. Currently, they can see 3 cards for them to claim in augmented reality. Nevertheless, it is possible that the trading cards are merely an extension on the existing AR capabilities with no blockchain integration. So don’t get your hopes up just yet.
Throughout the past year, Apple has been gradually moving into the Web3 space such as the Apple Pay and MetaMask integration. Therefore, I guess it’s reasonable for us to expect more Web3 utilities around the Apple ecosystem?
By the way, what is the WWDC all about?
In case you missed the previous sessions, the WWDC is a conference where developers around the globe come together for an inspiring week of technology and community. This year, it will be a fully online conference, free of charge. The highlights of the event usually include Apple’s latest platforms and technologies. This is particularly important for developers that are keen to explore the latest tools and tips.
In addition, the Swift Student Challenge is on this year. The challenge is specifically made for developers who are cultivating their software development skills. This year, winners will get exclusive WWDC22 outerwear, pin set, and a 1-year Apple Developer Program membership.
