Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather is promoting a new NFT project after the Mayweverse rug pull. You might think that after the latest NFT scam Floyd somehow happens to be associated with, he might take a break from the NFT space.
After all, he has now been linked with several NFT and crypto projects that have had questionable outcomes. These include Ethereum Max, Bored Bunny, Real Floyd NFT, Moonshot, and others. Significantly, most of these are worth almost nothing, and the development teams are AWOL.
Floyd Mayweather’s questionable history with NFT projects
The latest project was the ‘Mayweverse’, promoted as an NFT brand and Metaverse for Floyd Mayweather. The project looked very promising, and there were over 100 thousand members in the official Discord. However, many people suspect most of these were ‘bots’, as the project didn’t even sell out at first.
What’s more, the project hasn’t tweeted since the mint ended, and Twitter NFT investigator @ZachXBT did some research. He found out that eight days after the mint, someone transferred the proceeds adding up to $200 thousand to two wallets.
After further research, ZachXBT mapped out a trail featuring some wallets belonging to previous NFT projects that Mayweather has supported.
So now, Floyd Mayweather is back promoting a new NFT collection. In fact, he is taking part in the “Global Titans Fight Series“. This is a new high profile event series for athletes that uses NFTs as tickets and offers utility in rewards. NFT holders get access to the online stream of these fights.
It is unclear what will happen next and if the Mayweverse will become active again. For, now it appears that it is another dubious NFT project that Floyd Mayweather happens to have links with.
