The interest in boating is also trendy in the NFT space. Bored Apes Yacht Club is not the only project with a cool nautical vessel in it. Just recently, Cloud Yachts sold the first Superyacht as an NFT for a whopping $12M!
The NFT comes with its own Tactical yacht. This only means one thing. We can expect more NFT-backed luxury goods of the highest caliber in the industry.
Cloud Yachts — Superyachts in the Metaverse
Cloud Yachts called their project the first digital yacht dealer to the Metaverse. Award-winning yacht designers create incredible nautical produce. Then they establish the terms of sale. Once agreed, the team will start the building to make the designs a reality.
Basically, the NFT represents a contract for the build. This means the buyer will transfer the remaining payment off-chain.
For instance, Cloud has already sold its first item, a 110-foot (33.5 meters) superyacht. Then the shipbuilding firm, Tactical, will start its building process to turn the design into a real superyacht.
Tactical will spend the next 3 years building the incredible floating nautical vessel. In addition, the buyer can also add some customizations to the item through augmented reality. Then, once completed, the new owner, reportedly a Texan businessman, will receive the yacht with a second NFT for good measure.
Tim Charles, CEO of Tactical Custom Boats said: “We are constantly looking for new ways to improve the build experience for our clients. We teamed up with Cloud Yachts to see if we could use NFTs to simplify a complex build process. The first client we presented the opportunity to loved the idea. We are excited to work with the owner, Greg Marshall and Cloud Yachts on this NFT new build project.”
