First NFT Musicians on Ellen DeGeneres: MilkyWay Pirates Band

Today, an NFT band performed on The Ellen Degeneres Show with singer and pop-electronic artist Kiesza! The MilkyWay Pirates band, which is also an NFT collection, is the first NFT musicians on the major daytime talk show.

About Milkyway Pirates Band

The band members of the MilkyWay Pirates appeared virtually as colorful and furry humanoid-like characters. They are called “Fooboos” based on “SziFi”, a science fiction story created by Kiesza.

The NFTs use “Meta Moves” for their dance movements. These moves can also be used in blockchain-based metaverses. Luke Didlo, who created the 3D art for Meta and album art for Chris Brown, is also the 3D artist behind the NFT designs.

Musicians, Dancers, and Choreographers Should Take Advantage of NFTs

According to Kiesza, she sees NFTs as a brand new powerful way for musicians in creating their own path:

“The music industry was set up in a way that never looked out for musicians’ best interests. Musicians have always had to fight for their rights to make it a better place for them. But the NFT space is new and musicians can come into this new space and make a change before it’s too late,” Kiesza told Decrypt.

Likewise, Didlo views NFTs as a chance for choreographers and professional dancers to take ownership of their moves. Moreover, he added they can seek royalties from them through NFTs.

Didlo told Decrypt: “I’ve chatted with dancers who are sick of their routines being stolen and used by other performers, who can now claim digital ownership over a series of moves or routines using NFTs. Imagine owning the original Moonwalk, or the famous Thriller routine.”

This isn’t the first time NFTs made an appearance on TV. A few months ago, Paris Hilton displayed her Bored Apes on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show and gifted the audience NFTs. It seems NFTs are here to stay in the limelight!
