The direct to consumer (DTC) NFT marketplace, BlockBar, is embarking on an extraordinary partnership with Islay Whisky distiller Ardbeg. The historic and award-winning Whisky distillery, located on the Scottish island of Islay, is entering the NFT space. Furthermore, you can now get your hands on a bottle of this fantastic malt along with an NFT for a total of 1 ETH.
Reportedly, there are 456 bottles of this experimental whisky by one of the most prestigious whisky brands in the world.
What is the BlockBar Ardbeg Whisky?
Each bottle of the BlockBar Ardbeg Islay whisky has a corresponding NFT. This NFT will live on the Ethereum blockchain, providing an unbreakable line of authenticity and ownership. What’s more, you can redeem your NFT at any time and get your hands on your exclusive Islay malt whisky. To purchase one of these genuinely remarkable bottles of Scottish Whisky, you need to head over to Blockbar.com on the 19th of April.
The cost of one of these BlockBar Ardbeg NFTs is 1 ETH (£2,600). Not only do you get a cool NFT but a bottle of this limited-edition Islay whisky. Called Ardbeg Fon Fhòid’s (Scots Gaelic for ‘under the turf’), it has been buried in a peat bog for two years on the remote Scottish island of Islay.
Because of this extreme experiment, Ardbeg tells us this is the most earthy, mossy, and herbal Ardbeg ever. At 45% ABV, this second fill bourbon is bold and slightly drying, with a distinctive bacon saltiness. This BlockBar Ardbeg whiskey is not to be missed.
Thomas Moradpour, President and CEO of The Glenmorangie Company, which owns Ardbeg Distillery, said, “We’re so excited to be launching this exclusive and first NFT release from Ardbeg ̶ one of the world’s most collectable whiskies. Our whisky makers are always pushing the boundaries of experimentation; this is a chance to own one of their most intriguing creations to date, a true piece of Ardbeg history.”
Finally, this partnership with BlockBar is the first entrance into the NFT world by Ardbeg. However, they have been creating award-winning Malt whisky on Islay for over 200 years. Established in 1815, Ardbeg is recognised worldwide as one of the peatiest, smokiest and most complex Islay malts.
