Last week, Bentley Motors announced the drop of its genesis NFT collection. The limited-edition drop will include 208 NFTs and is set to take place in September 2022 on the Polygon network.
Everything you need to know about the Bentley NFTs on Polygon
Overall, Bentley’s first NFT is just the start of Bentley’s long-term approach to Web3. To that end, the debut NFT collection – with unique artwork b Bentley design – will offer holders unique access and exclusive rewards.
Significantly, the NFT collection size, 208, is important to Bentley. For one thing, is it the top speed of Bentley’s fastest Grand Tourer (the Continental GT Speed). In addition, it is also the total production run of the iconic 1952 R-Type Continental. To explain, that car is a major inspiration for Bentley’s modern designs.
Another key point is that Bentley chose the Polygon blockchain. As a result, the collection will be entirely carbon-neutral. Clearly, this was an important factor for Bentley when it came to its first-ever NFTs. After all, the company has committed to achieving end-to-end carbon neutrality by 2030. Thus, it makes sense that Bentley went with Polygon to make sure that its entry into NFTs and Web3 was sustainable.
Member of the Board for Sales and Marketing, Alain Favey, commented on Bentley’s genesis collection.
“Bentley customers are living their lives online, purchasing luxury goods with digital currency, and establishing businesses in the Metaverse. We’ve always engaged our customers where they explore their passions, and today that means being present in digital marketplaces and offering NFT assets. We’ve seen how NFTs have raised the profiles of both art and artist, and we believe the same can happen in the luxury automotive space.”
This move adds Bentley to a growing list of major names in the automotive industry to experiment with NFTs. Previous entrants into the space include Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Mercedes.
