BAYC Trezor Hunt: Will It Be IRL, And Who Is Applied Primate?

Ever since a mysterious Twitter Account, called “Applied Primate Engineering”, posted its first Tweet, speculations are rife in the BAYC community. Recently, Applied Primate tweeted a photo of a missing ape, promising rewards for any information. The mysterious tweet has led many community members to speculate that this could be part of the BAYC Trezor Hunt.

BAYC Trezor Hunt: What We Know So Far

On May 16, Applied Primate tweeted the missing poster of Doctor “DOC” Abbot Gibbons. Based on the poster, DOC is a male ape with Dark Brown fur and Black eyes. He was last seen on May 6 at Applied Primate Engineering HQ, wearing a lab coat with an orange beanie. 

Actually, the bored ape featured in the image is Bored Ape #8676. Currently, the ape belongs to the wallet of “BoredApeRules”—a wallet created just this month. According to Twitter user VonDoom.eth, “Fednadal” originally purchased the Bored Ape five months ago, before transferring it to BoredApeRules a little less than two weeks back. 

Two Otherdeed NFTs, a mutant ape, and several Murakami Flowers and CloneX NFTs were also transferred to this account. That’s not all. There’s also an Applied Primate OpenSea account—this is where things get interesting. BAYC collector Deepak Thapliyal transferred one of the only two remaining Mega Mutant Serums to this account two months ago. 

Could this too be part of the BAYC Trezor Hunt? Could this be the reward? Well, no one knows the answers at this moment. But, to refresh your memory, the Mega Mutant Serum in question was last bought for an insane 1542 ETH or $5.85 million at the time.  

To make things more interesting, BAYC retweeted Applied Primate’s tweet saying, “We love a mystery, especially from the ape community. Keeping our eyes open!”

But, Who Is Applied Primate?

Interestingly, Applied Primate Engineering created its Twitter account in October 2011. Yet, its first tweet came this month. Besides, it also has its own website, which says, “We are working hard to ensure the continued health and wellness of apes around the world.”

According to the site’s about page, Dr. Abbott Gibbons founded Applied Primate Engineering in 2022. The organisation is “a biological research group devoted to understanding the causes of mutation in apes and working to find a cure”. 

As VonDoom speculated, could this mean Gen2 apes are coming? Besides, on the website’s ‘Our Work’ section, the firm notes that their experiments are in progress. In addition, its intern, A. Terry, will soon share more information on the page.

Furthermore, earlier today, Applied Primate tweeted, “We continue to look for any information regarding the current location of Doctor Abbott Gibbons. Please contact us if you have any pertinent information.” 

With the Ape Fest slated to kick off on June 20, the BAYC Trezor Hunt could be a real-life event. Or something entirely different might be in store. Of course, at this point, everything is mere speculation. We will have to wait until we get official information from BAYC. Nonetheless, the BAYC community sure is excited!
