The NFT-based online video game Axie Infinity has just topped the list of most-searched NFTs on Google with a total of 3.86 million monthly global searches. In addition, the number of global searches for “NFT” has reached 5.1 million per month in recent months. This is largely due to the number of celebrities getting involved in the crypto space.
Axie Infinity is a trading and battling game that enables players to collect, breed, raise, battle, and trade NFTs known as Axies. The NFT based online video game is hugely popular. In fact, it has more than 2.8 million unique addresses, hosting 11.1 million Axie.
The second most searched NFT collection is The Sandbox; which receives an average of 553,000 global searches every month. Due to celebrity and brand interest, the game has quickly grown in popularity. K-Pop’s SM Entertainment recently partnered with The Sandbox to create a play-to-play ecosystem, while Warner Music Group has a marquee partnership with The Sandbox.
NBA Top Shot is the third most searched NFT collection, with searches averaging 477,000 per month. Essentially, it is an NFT marketplace that allows users to buy, sell and collect influential NBA digital moments.
The fantasy game of football Sorare comes in fourth place, with 417,000 global searches. Decentraland follows it, with 201,000 global searches. Rarible (192,000 searches); Cryptokitties (111,000 searches); Gods Unchained (111,000 searches), Cryptopunks (96,000 searches); and Bored Ape Yacht Club (59,000 searches) round up the top ten.
In 2021, the NFT market exceeded the $40 billion mark. Due to the growing importance of the market, educational institutions such as Ankara University are now offering courses focusing on NFTs.
