Angel City Football Club launches an NFT collection with Crypto.com to celebrate it’s inaugural match on April 29th. Angel City FC is Los Angeles’s newest professional soccer team. To celebrate the first time the team takes the pitch, they are offering fans commemorative NFTs.
Fans who signup or already have a crypto.com account will receive one of the two NFTs.
The organizations goal is to use their platform to introduce their fans to the exciting world of Web3 and NFTs. Further, they want to be forward thinking and feel the intersection of NFTs and sports is the future.
Angel City Football Club Wants an Interactive Fan Experience
In claiming the NFTs at the first match, fans will own a piece of the team’s history and come on the journey alongside them. Consequently, holding these NFTs will double as a POAP (proof of attendance protocol) and fans will be able to have that memento.
The number of rare NFTs will be 22. ACFC will be donating to the player 22 fund, a fund that provides grants to retired NWSL players starting careers after soccer. Once the NFT is claimed holders will gain access to exclusive digital items and invitations to events.
As part of their partnership with Crypto.com, the parties will be hosting live and virtual events promoting Web3 education. Angel City Football Club tickets start at $180 for 12 home games. ACFC, founded by Natalie Portman, Kara Nortman, Julie Uhrman and Alexis Ohanian is making waves for their Web3 integration. This isn’t the first time a soccer team has implemented NFTs for their fanbase, but in this specific case fans are looking forward to being able to own a piece of the club’s history.
