Aavegotchi Land Sale Set for October as 2021 Roadmap Unveiled

The first Aavegotchi land sale has been confirmed for October 2021. The Gotchiverse Realm will soon offer parcels for sale, using a bid-to-earn system. In total, 16,000 lots — or REALM parcels — will be available. A further 4,000 will be up for grabs via a Drop Ticket Raffle.

As fans will likely have noticed, the debut Aavegotchi land sale was originally set for this month but was put back because of the high number of events already set for September. Currently, users can stake GHST tokens to earn Frens Points, which can be used to buy raffle tickets. Winning tickets can earn the owner a portal for Haunt 2.

There is also currently an Aavegotchi game jam underway, with the best creations set to be published in the Aavegotchi Aarcade in November. The titles will support play with Gotchis, making Aavegotchi more of a play-to-earn metaverse than ever before.

Before and After the First Aavegotchi Land Sale

In two weeks Aavegotchi will host a DAO event, which is then followed by a Frens wearables raffle which will take place before the end of September. October, meanwhile, has a number of offerings on top of the land sale. Users will be able to make offers on the Aavegotchi Baazaar NFT marketplace, and there will be a second Rarity Farming season.

The Aavegotchi land sale is perhaps the most exciting date in the platform’s 2021 roadmap. However, once all REALM parcels have been sold the team will introduce more new features worth shouting about. First up, there will be the chance to rent or borrow Gotchis. Those borrowing one of the pixel ghosts will be able to use the character in mini-games. They will also use the avatar to access in-game rewards.

Finally, it’s important to note that if you sleep on the first Aavegotchi land sale this won’t be the last. The roadmap already has two more real estate auctions set for November and December. Once these are done, the Gotchiverse Citaadel will be unveiled — more on that as we get it.

But Wait, What Is an Aavegotchi?

Sweeping the question ‘where have you been?’ under the carpet for one second, Aavegotchis are small pixellated ghost avatars. The word is taken from the Finnish ‘Aave’, which means ‘ghost’.

Each of the avatars is backed by real money, and their base price is initially determined by rarity levels similar to those we see in other NFT collections. Owners can also add non-fungible token wearables to their character, increasing both performance and overall value.

Recently, Aavegotchi announced a new eco-governance token, GHST. These can be acquired through Uniswap and a number of other exchanges. Or you can pick them up within the Aavegotchi platform itself. To buy GHST you use DAI, and will need Aave aTokens, for example aDAI. Buy yourself some GHST, then spend this to create a portal, which your Gotchi will arrive through. Avatars can be kept and used for tasks like gaming, sold for a profit, or burnt to release the money backing them.

Earlier this summer, the Aavegotchi community was allowed to vote on whether more Gotchis should be added to the ecosystem. The event, known as ‘Haunt 2’, was approved, meaning 15,000 portals were created, each able to summon a new Gotchi ghost. This is a crucial differentiator between Aavegotchi and many other NFT collections — the supply system allows for more to be added incrementally, rather than working with a hard cap.
