Volkswagen Malaysia: NFT Artworks from VW are Now Available on Pentas

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has teamed up with media art collective, Filamen, to launch its first NFT collection. Called ‘Accelerated Futurescapes’, the collection takes inspiration from the Volkswagen Arteon R-Line. Local digital artists, Jason Choo and Syed Muhammad, created the exclusive artworks.

“Volkswagen have always been at the forefront of digitalisation initiatives in Malaysia, and pushing digital boundaries is something we constantly strive to do,” Erik Winter, VPCM’s Managing Director, was quoted by TopGear. “What more, to empower young local artists and be a part of their journey to explore and widen their creative range has been truly inspiring.”

All about Volkswagen Malaysia NFT collection

Volkswagen Malaysia’s NFT collection is now live on Southeast Asia NFT platform, Pentas. It includes four unique NFTs based on the flagship Volkswagen model. Each NFT costs 2.50 BNB or around $1,322. 

The “otherworldly” artworks digitally explore the “relationship between the car and imagined spatial futures, oscillating between abstract and fictional imagery”. The result is four stunning pieces representing the visions of the future.

While Syed’s works are based on the themes of ‘energy’ and ‘motion’, Jason’s focuses on fictional imagery. In the former’s pieces, one can see “landscapes of particles” that mimic natural phenomena like ocean waves. The latter, on the other hand, uses themes like ‘life’ and ‘flight’ to represent Arteon.

With the NFT market growing in leaps and bounds, Volkswagen Malaysia’s entry into the space comes as no surprise. Last year, the industry raked in over $23 billion in trading volume. The trend is set to continue this year with new year day’s OpenSea NFT sales hitting a whopping $161 million. Surely, we can expect more big names to foray into the space this year!
