Belgian Barrels NFTs are being used to preserve Belgian beer heritage

Brewers and farmers forming part of the Belgian Barrels Alliance (BBA) have just announced that they’re releasing Belgian Barrels NFTs to preserve Belgian beer culture and heritage. These NFTs are only possible due to the BBA’s recent partnership with Zeromint.

As part of the partnership, Zeromint will offer exclusive Belgian Barrels NFTs on the GoChain blockchain. These NFTs will be made available to beer fans worldwide via the BBA. For the next 14 days, BBA has planned a number of NFT collections, which centre around the preservation of Belgian beer culture and sustainability. 

The winners of the NFT auction will gain access to BBA events, vintage beer bottles, exclusive bottles at BBA clubs and a marketplace for NFT ownership exchange. Additionally, the first 11 NFT holders will get a part in a BBA-produced movie, titled “Belgian Barrels.”

Tom De Block, Co-founder of the Belgian Barrels Alliance, explained the importance of these NFTs vis-a-vis Belgium’s rich beer culture: 

“Belgian beer is not just beer. It is a rich and complex history about old families and true people that became legends. It is simply an honour to open some of their bottles and to tell their story.” He continued, “Eighty per cent of the revenue generated from the NFT auction will go towards a local charity in Belgium.”

Beer and NFTs go hand-in-hand

BBA isn’t the only beer organisation releasing NFTs to promote its mission. In December, craft beer NFT project Bottup introduced an ‘earn as you drink’ element to their project.

Alcohol brand Anheuser-Busch InBev launched a Budweiser NFT collection in July 2021, while Denver Beer Co. auctioned off Beer-For-Life NFTs that awards the owner a lifetime supply of beers. All in all, these projects continue to indicate NFTs’ power to promote legendary brands and lifestyles.
