NFT Wrapped: Metalink Launches “Year In NFTs” Review For NFT Owners

Metalink wants to give you a new way to share your year in NFTs with “NFT Wrapped”. The feature takes a cue from “Spotify Wrapped” by creating a personalized review of NFT owners’ experiences over the past year.

Metalink, an all-in-one platform for NFT owners, is releasing NFT Wrapped as it gets ready to open up its app to all users.

NFT Wrapped Is Metalink’s Gift To The Community

Since launching in 2016, “Spotify Wrapped” has become an annual event on social media feeds.

In the same vein, Metalink is giving NFT owners their chance to flex their stats from what has been the biggest year in NFTs yet, with NFT Wrapped.

To make their review, users will go to the NFT Wrapped site and connect the Ethereum wallet holding their NFTs. From there, the site creates a fun and colorful breakdown of the user’s year in NFTs.

NFT Wrapped features personalized stats for users like first purchase, biggest purchase, and biggest “win”. And as an extra treat for the community, it even tallies the total gas fees a user paid in the hilarious measurement of “units of Teslas-You-Could-Have-Bought”.

Metalink founder, Jake Udell told NFT Evening that the goal with NFT Wrapped was to, “create something that other people engaged in trading NFTs, and having conversations around them would have fun with,” adding that it’s “an end of year present to the community.” 

NFT Wrapped comes as part of the “12 Days Of Metalink”. The holiday campaign started on December 13th and has seen Metalink ship one major feature of its app each day. Metalink will launch its MVP (minimum viable product) at the end of the campaign.

Metalink – A “Super App” For The NFT Space

At this point, Metalink has only been available to members of a few select NFT communities. To list, these were owners of CryptoPunks, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Cool Cats, and CyberKongz NFTs.

However, after the launches of NFT Wrapped and the Metalink MVP, the app will be public and open to anyone. (Interestingly, Udell did hint at a new feature that will let users compete to choose which projects Metalink partners with in the future).

The app’s main early feature was an NFT-gated chat, giving NFT communities a safe, spam-free place to connect. That being said, the app does offer many more features for NFT owners. For example, it has a portfolio manager, a feed showing what collectors are buying and selling, and a launchpad for new collections.

Udell highlighted the app’s multiple features as “the true magic of Metalink” that sets it apart from other apps currently used in the NFT space.

“Rather than having 3 different apps for chatting, transacting, and managing, Metalink offers everything in one place. We believe that super apps are the way of the future and our vision is to build it for NFTs.”

For now, the fun stats from NFT Wrapped would come as an annual treat, though Udell says that Metalink would consider adding some of those features to the app for more regular use if the community wanted them.

Could Metalink Take Discord’s Place In NFT World?

Until now, Discord has been the NFT world’s chat app of choice. While this may be true, Discord has been far from an ideal home for NFT communities. Many in the NFT world have been calling for an app to replace that platform. One that specifically has NFTs in mind.

For one thing, scams on Discord are rampant. It seems like at least once a week there’s another NFT Discord server that gets “hacked”, with members losing ETH and/or NFTs. Not to mention that non-NFT users on the platform have strongly rejected its embrace of NFTs.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the wider NFT community thinks of Metalink. NFT Wrapped certainly seems like it will help the Metalink MVP make some noise in the community when it arrives.
