Stephen Curry made NBA history last Tuesday evening and to celebrate, he is launching limited-edition charitable NFT Wearables with Under Armour.
Here’s the catch! The NFTs aren’t simply collectibles; they will have in-game utility across multiple metaverses! The partners are only selling 2974 editions of the NFT representing each of the three-point shots in the tremendous. It will be yours for $333!
Stephen Curry’s NFT Wearables Taking Over the Metaverse!
The Golden State Warriors Point Guard scored his 2974th 3-pointer at the Madison Square Garden, earning him the lifetime 3-point record. So in partnership with Gala Games, Curry Brands developed the Genesis Curry Flow NFT. As the name suggests, it is a replica of the Curry Flow 9 shoes Curry was wearing when he took the record-breaking shot.
There’s no doubt that the NFT will be a hot commodity for sports fans worldwide. After all, Curry is a 3x NBA champion and 2x MVP. Let’s just say Gala Games wanted to take it up a notch by making it cross-functional. Curry’s NFT Wearables will be playable in Town Star for play-to-earn rewards. Additionally, it will also have functions in both Decentraland and The Sandbox.
Meanwhile, 100% of the net revenue for this project will be donated to charities that offer greater access to sports for underprivileged youth. So the total sales will mean access to team programs, coaching development, safe places to play, equipment and gears for the aspiring athletes.
More About The Metaverse Utility and How You Can Score the NFTs
Curry’s NFT Wearables actually explains why Town Stars’ into the galaverse attendees received a special Common Half Court NFT as a drop. So when users put the two NFTs on Town Star together, they’ll get a special bonus to their potential daily earnings.
The crossover doesn’t end there! Beginning on December 28th, multiple rarities of Half Courts will be sold in limited supply in the Gala Games store. We are talking about Uncommon to Legendary tiers! The rarer the court, the greater the potential for play-to-earn rewards.
So the game is urging users to collect various combinations of Courts and Shoes to unlock greater TOWN reward potential in the first play-to-earn game in the Gala Games ecosystem. Collect 2 Half Courts to make a Full Court and throw in a Genesis Curry Flow NFT of the same rarity for the ultimate combination and the maximum possible play-to-earn rewards in Town Star.

ERC-721 vs. ERC-1155
The team minted the NFTs using the ERC-1155 contract. This is where the big debate comes in! The NFT community has labeled ERC-721 as the “gold standard” while ERC-1155 is being described as “lazy minting.” So naturally, the community is wondering if the partners rushed the launch of the NFT Project.
ERC-721 was the first standardized interface for creating NFTs. It’s the most widely used. It is immutable, transparent in ownership and security. Hence it is Non-fungible, a true NFT. The downside is that when gas fees are high, projects and artists need a hefty sum just to mint the NFTs.
Meanwhile, ERC-1155 is a unique token that supports non-fungible (NFTs) and fungible tokens. It’s faster and more efficient to use in batch token transfers. Developed by Enjin, it is called “the next generation multi-token standard.” This inherently cuts 90% of the gas fees. However, the drawback is that the NFT is harder to track in terms of ownership and has less robust information.
