Ukrainian professional cyclist Mark Padun is launching a collection of NFTs to support Ukrainian relief charities. Designed by Project Fuerza artist Facundo Kostelak, the nine NFTs contain Ukrainian flag colours. In the ‘Carry the Load’ collection, 25% of the proceeds will go towards the Ukrainian medical help relief fund. Significantly, Project Fuerza will also match the donations from the NFT cyclist collection.
Cyclist Mark Padun NFT collection for a Ukrainian charity
Racing for EF Education-EasyPost, Mark Padun has raced in some of the world’s biggest cycling events. Along with highlighting the struggles in Ukraine, the Mark Padun NFT collection reflects his achievements. One is a reference to his stage seven win at the 2021 Critérium du Dauphiné.
Notably, this was the first WorldTour victory of his career. Other NFTs represent podium finishes and other highlights combined with data analysis from his races.
Mark Padun is from the region of Donetsk in Ukraine, which has seen conflict for almost eight years. However, in February, Russia attempted to invade Ukraine fully, and now the two countries are at war.
The funds from the Mark Padun NFT project will support the people trying to save lives in Ukraine amidst indiscriminate bombing and shelling across the country.
Web3 community continues to rally support for Ukraine
Since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the NFT community has been working tirelessly to help the citizens of Ukraine in any way possible.
In fact, so much money was coming from within the web3 ecosystem that Ukraine set up an official ‘crypto fund of Ukraine’. Last month, they sold a CryptoPunk NFT, which was donated to them, for 90 ETH ($100 thousand at the time). The NFT collection by Mark Padun is adding to the relief effort.
