Has the founder of the MFers collection, Sartoshi, already made his return as the Minister of NFTs? That’s what some on NFT Twitter are saying. Over the past few days, an NFT meme account under the name @MinisterofNFTs began gaining traction. So much that people believe that the account belongs to none other than Sartoshi.
Is MFers founder Sartoshi secretly the Minister of NFTs?
A month ago, the popular NFT Twitter meme-master and MFers founder Sartoshi made a noisy exit from the NFT space. The prolific s***poster and memesmith launched an open edition NFT collection called “The End of Sartoshi” before abruptly deleting their Twitter account.
The move garnered equal parts shock, praise, and criticism. Naturally, many expected that the anonymous Sartoshi would simply re-enter the NFT space under a new moniker. Now, as the Minister of NFTs account grows larger, many are questioning if this new account with an MFer PFP is actually Sartoshi.
The Minister of NFTs account itself helped stoke the rumors, temporarily changing its account name to Sartoshi’s old one. Under the Sartoshi moniker it tweeted, “You thought I was just going to leave?” on July 9th.
So is this new account actually Sartoshi? Given the wonderful anon world of NFTs, it’s hard to say. In fact, short of being doxxed or doxxing themselves, no one could know for sure if the Minister of NFTs is indeed the return of the MFers founder.
Given the way that Sartoshi went out, it does seem very plausible that the two accounts are run by different people. After all, why wouldn’t the Minister of NFTs exploit the rumors for some quality engagement? For what it’s worth, the Minister of NFTs’ earliest available tweet is from May 23rd. If it is indeed Sartoshi, that means they operated both accounts for a couple of weeks before the Sartoshi account went dark.
