Australian DJ Timmy Trumpet has just announced that he is allowing fans to invest and earn streaming royalties from his latest single “Life Like This.” This initiative was made possible via his partnership with the music rights marketplace Royal.
About Timmy Trumpet’s new initiative
There are three membership tiers to Timmy Trumpet’s latest venture. The gold tier, which costs $99, allows fans to own 0.0470% of the single’s streaming royalties. They will also gain access to the Royal collector Discord channel and get priority access to the artist’s next NFT drop on Royal.
The platinum tier is $199 and gives the token holder 0.1040% ownership. In addition to the royalties, holders can attend a virtual album listening party with Timmy Trumpet, gain access to the Royal collector Discord channel, and get priority access to the DJ’s next drop on the platform.
Finally, the platinum tier gives token holders 1.0442% of streaming royalties. Priced at $1999, the holder gets all the rewards in the other levels. Moreover, they receive VIP passes to a festival or live show and a Timmy Trumpet meet-and-greet.
Music ownership in web3
Timmy Trumpet is no stranger to web3: in February, he dropped a one-of-one on Origin Story. The DJ joins other forward-looking artists, such as Diplo, Royce da 5’9″, The Chainsmokers and Nas in using web3 to restructure music ownership rules. By treating their fans as partners, such artists are giving back to their fans. While doing this, they are also rewriting the decades-old rules of the music industry.
