Bitcoin Fraud-Accused South African Radio Presenter Threatens Legal Action

Following accusations that he defrauded investors in his bitcoin investment scheme, the South African radio presenter Sebasa Mogale has said he will take legal action against individuals that have reported him to the police. His lawyer insisted that no evidence will be found because Mogale never committed fraud.

Five Fraud Cases Opened Against Mogale

Sebasa Mogale, the Thobela FM presenter accused of fleecing investors via his bitcoin investment scheme, has threatened to take legal action against individuals filing fraud claims against him with law enforcement. According to the radio presenter’s legal representative, Lesedi Mphahlele, Mogale “did not receive any money from anybody.”

The threats by Mogale, who also plays a role in the South African television show “Skeem Saam,” follow reports that quote a regional police spokesperson confirming that his organization has indeed received complaints from individuals claiming to be victims of the presenter’s scam.

According to one report, five fraud cases have been opened against Mogale and investigations are now ongoing. When the probe is completed, the police will hand over the cases to a senior public prosecutor who will then determine the next course of action, the report said.

No Evidence to Back the Allegations

Addressing the claims against his client, Mphahlele said the allegations were baseless and that they were injuring the reputation of Mogale. He added:

I think it’s a matter of people not understanding how the business operate[s]. This is Bitcoin. All Sebasa was doing was marketing. We challenge everyone to show proof of payment showing money going into his private account or business accounts.

Although he acknowledged that fraud cases have been opened against his client, Mphahlele insisted that no evidence will be found because Mogale never committed fraud.

Meanwhile, in his statement, Mogale admits that he is a network marketer but denies coercing people to sign up. The radio presenter also said he has never claimed to be either a cryptocurrency expert or an owner of a cryptocurrency business.

While some of his alleged victims claim to have been hit with combined losses of almost $50,000, the radio presenter insists that those who signed up for his bitcoin investment scheme have full access to their respective accounts.
