The prestigious art auction house Christie’s is launching a ‘Cartography Of The Mind’ NFT sale. This curated collection of over twenty-four art pieces will run from June 21st to 28th. It features some of the most influential digital artists in the space. The ‘Cartography Of The Mind’ supports the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), in collaboration with Ryan Zurrer, founder of Dialectic and Vine Ventures.
What is Christie’s ‘Cartography Of The Mind’ NFT sale?
This new and bold Christie’s NFT sale is a remarkable and diverse collection representing community and art. It focuses on psychedelic experiecenes and the benefits they offer. Alongside the art, several artists have also provided the psychedelic experiences that have shaped their lives.
Furthermore, Beeple, Sarah Meyohas, Refik Anadol, Mad Dog Jones, and IX Shells are all taking part, alongside others.
The NFT sale will run for a week (June 21st -28th) in partnership with Atomic Form. This New York NFT infrastructure company provides blockchain verification and gallery management software for the entire “Cartography of the Mind” exhibition.
Significantly, you can buy the artwork at Christie’s New York galleries and online via the official website for this NFT sale.
“There is an intrinsic connection between the psychedelic community and art. Art is often used to integrate psychedelic experiences, transcending language, culture, and experience to communicate what words simply cannot. We are honoured to have these talented artists donate their art and grateful to Ryan and Christie’s for their support of MAPS,” says Rick Doblin, PhD, MAPS founder and executive director.
MAPS research is potentially life-saving!
The purpose of the NFT sale at Christie’s is to raise funds to support MAPS, the non-profit research organization. Founded in 1986, MAPS conducts research into psychedelic-assisted therapies that has the potential to save lives now and in the future.
Studies into drug policy reform, public education, health equity and harm reduction initiatives are some of the avenues MAPS are exploring. Additionally, MAPS is sponsoring the world’s most progressive psychedelic therapy research. The money from Christie’s NFT sale will help fund this research.
Noah Davis, Christie’s Head of Digital Art, comments, “Working closely with Ryan and co. to assemble the radical art in Cartography of the Mind has been a blast. MAPS is an organization which has benefited an incredible array of people, many of them artists. I’m ecstatic to know that proceeds from this auction will go towards furthering their mission.”
Christie’s continues to explore NFT space
The ‘Cartography Of The Mind’ NFT sale is not Christie’s first entry into the NFT space. Christie’s was founded in 1776 and is one of the world’s biggest and most recognizable art auction houses.
Moreover, it is a global leader in art and luxury sales. Now, it is also using its centuries of business knowledge to navigate a path in the digital revolution.
Finally, last year, Christie’s was the first major art auction house to sell an NFT. Beeple’s collage, ‘Everydays: The First 5000 Days’, became the highest NFT sale in history, at $69 million.
