Like so many live events in the age of COVID, the Capital Summertime Ball was forced to take a multi-year hiatus. But fans of the huge one-day festival in London, England can rejoice as the Summertime Ball returns to Wembley Stadium this Sunday, June 12th! In fact, after three years off, the Capital Summertime Ball is marking its return in a big way – partnering with the NFT platform OneOf to offer NFTs to fans.
All about the Capital Summertime Ball NFTs
Global, the parent company of Capital FM, announced that it is teaming up with the green NFT platform OneOf to release its first-ever NFTs. What’s more, the Capital Summertime Ball NFTs will be the first time a UK radio brand has launched its own digital collectibles.
In essence, the Capital Summertime Ball NFTs are digital lanyards featuring the festival’s marquee lineup. In addition, the NFTs will come in three tiers: Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.
Notably, Platinum Tier NFT holders will receive two tickets to the 2023 edition of the Capital Summertime Ball. By the same token, the Diamond Tier NFTs come with four tickets to the same event. Fans can pick up the NFTs now via OneOf, with prices starting as low as £10.
Speaking on the NFT launch, Global’s Chief Marketing Officer Cilesta Van Doorn said:
“Collecting venue ticket stubs and programmes is very much part of the music fan experience when you’re at a live event. So we are thrilled to be able to move the fan experience into the metaverse by creating digital memorabilia.”
What is the Capital Summertime Ball 2022 and who is playing?
The Capital Summertime Ball with Barclaycard is a massive annual one-day music festival that takes place at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London. Capital, the UK’s no.1 hit music brand, puts on the event. As a result, it regularly features some of the biggest names in music.
To illustrate, Capital Summertime Ball 2022 features pop megastars Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles. Also on the lineup are superstar DJ David Guetta, and YouTuber/musician/NFT enthusiast KSI.
Clearly, this move from Capital shows that the trend of major brands entering the NFT space is not slowing down, bear market or not. This is also the latest example of the biggest names in music and entertainment partnering with OneOf.
For those who don’t know, OneOf helps musical artists and brands connect with fans through NFTs on environmentally friendly blockchains. The platform looks to onboard non-crypto-native fans into Web3 by simplifying the process of buying NFTs.
In the past, OneOf has launched some NFTs from music icons like The Notorious B.I.G. and Alesso. On the other hand, OneOf has also partnered with major music events like The Grammys and The Montreux Jazz Festival.
