On Tuesday, the Sandbox team announced its partnership with nWay, an Animoca Brands subsidiary. Through the partnership, the metaverse gaming platform aims to add utility to selected Apex Athletes.
The Sandbox and Apex Athletes Partnership
As per the announcement, The Shaun White, Nathan Chen, Chloe Kim, Lindsey Vonn, and Ayumu Hirano Apex Athletes NFTs will get their 3D exclusive avatar skins in The Sandbox.
Featuring 26 winter sports athletes, the Apex Athletes collection consists of 2,000 NFTs. In addition to images and videos from the athlete’s collection, the collection also has some exclusive signed versions.
On April 21, a private sale took place on the Apex Athletes website. Following this, Apex Athletes has scheduled a public sale on April 26. For the private and public sales, the Apex Athletes minting price is 0.05 ETH and 0.07 ETH, respectively.
Apex Athletes’ Future Plans
In fact, this collaboration is the first of a series of utilities that nWay has planned for Apex Athletes. As nWay continues to develop new projects, it plans to collaborate with other Animoca Brands projects.
Also, The Sandbox has mentioned ongoing talks with nWay to create an “Apex Athletes winter park.” Moreover, it will be built in The Sandbox metaverse, “where players can shred on the snowboard halfpipe or show off the quadruple axel jump in the ice skating rink.”
Built on the Ethereum blockchain, The Sandbox is a virtual world where users can create, own, and monetize gaming experiences. Lately, the platform has been continuously filling its metaverse space with celebrities and notable projects.
