The notorious Bored Bunny NFT rug pull project is attempting to put the past behind them. They want to continue the project, update the roadmap and stay in charge. After Twitter NFT detectives such as @zachbxt exposed some questionable behaviour and doxxed the founders, they suddenly did a U-turn.
The Bad Bunny NFT collection was first announced in December, as part of the Bored Bunny Collection. It consisted of 4,999 PFP NFTs at 0.4 ETH each. Many people began to question the project’s legitimacy after a sudden rush of celebrity endorsements.
What happened with the original Bored Bunny NFT project?
Amongst the stars promoting the project were Floyd Mayweather, DJ Khaled, Jake Paul and others. Because of this celebrity approval, many in the NFT space were excited about the project’s potential. However, a few people, who have seen celebrities come and go, were cautious and made their feelings known.
Some of the promises the founders of the Bored Bunny NFT collection included the ability to breed multiple NFTs, merchandise, entrance to IRL events and much more. Unsurprisingly, it sold out incredibly fast.
People grew concerned with accusations of rigged metadata, an unresponsive team, and funds funnelled into exchanges. Eventually, the Bored Bunny NFT project founders decided to hand the reigns over to a Discord mod, but there was no sign of the $21 million raised by the team.
However, now it appears they have changed their minds and want to build on the existing collection. In fact, they have already purchased some LAND via The Sandbox, and there are plans for an updated roadmap.
These are good signs for the people who bought the NFTs. But, only time will tell how legitimate these plans are.
