Ukraine released its most-awaited NFTs last week intending to raise around $1 million for war and humanitarian efforts. However, after one week, hundreds of the NFTs are not yet sold.
The collection is the first one launched by a country. Yet, its sale didn’t go smoothly as other high-profile NFT collections, which often sell out immediately.
Official Ukraine NFTs Depicts the Events of the Ukraine and Russian War
The Ukrainian government announced the collection at the beginning of March. The announcement came after they canceled the original plan for a crypto airdrop and choose to release NFTs instead. It then took about a month to reveal the collection composed of 2,182 NFTs.
Entitled “META HISTORY: Museum of War,” the collection shows the timeline of events from the start of the war. Each NFT is an artwork with a related tweet stacked on top.
You can purchase one by minting the NFTs listed on OpenSea. The Ukraine government announced 24 hours after the launch that they have sold 1,051. As of writing, there are under 1,700 listed on OpenSea, with the total number of owners being 706.
Meanwhile, the current floor price on OpenSea is 0.13 ETH, and the secondary trading volume at 21.6 ETH.
According to a spokesperson for The Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation, the agency behind the NFT sale, the collection has raised over $600,000 so far. The spokesperson did not comment on whether the sale has met the agency’s expectations.
