Snoop Dogg has expanded on his NFT and metaverse ventures once more, now announcing a concert in the Sandbox and a metaverse-based music video. This was announced by The Sandbox CEO and co-founder, Arthur Madrid.
Snoop Dogg’s Sandbox Concert
There is not much info out about the concert, although it’s in the works, as confirmed by Madrid.
We have seen several concerts in both The Sandbox and Decentraland. From Steve Aoki, to Masked Wolf. Many people seem to enjoy these concerts massively, and always want to see more.
In the Metaverse, artists like Snoop Dogg can perform anywhere in the world as people attend their concerts from the comfort of their homes. While you may be wearing a VR headset and viewing the concert alone, you will still be interacting with others in the concert’s shared virtual space or through live chats during the performance.
Prior to the increase in the popularity of NFT-based metaverse platforms, we saw concerts in Fortnite from the likes of Travis Scott and Marshmello. These concerts were held in the midst of the first coronavirus lockdown in an attempt to engage fans.
The Metaverse Music Video
Yesterday, Snoop Dogg released his official music video for his song ‘House I Built’. Within the video, you see many of the voxel characters which he has created. As well as other characters in The Sandbox and buildings which are part of the SnoopVerse on the platform.
Within the song, there are several references to The Sandbox. From “So, uh, how much is my Sandbox worth right now? Your sand, your sand token?” to “Walkin’ through The Sandbox with flip-flops on” and “In my Sandbox with my feet up (feet up)”.
This, making a song about metaverse and NFTs, was maybe expected from Snoop Dogg as he is so invested in The Sandbox platform. Through many collaborations with the platform and a lot of money invested, Snoop has become overly bullish on the platform, the metaverse and NFTs as a whole.
