Luxury beauty brand Guerlain mixes sustainability with its Cryptobees NFTs. All of the funds from Cryptobees are being used to support a rewilding project in the Vallée de la Millière nature reserve in France.
About Guerlain Cryptobees and Reaverse
There are 1828 Cryptobees. Each connects to pockets of land within the nature reserve with exact geographical coordinates of the section that it sponsors. The Guerlain NFTs are meant “to bring nature back to life in the real world,” the brand says.
The collection called Reaverse combines the words real and metaverse. It has four rarity levels with unique graphics. The division are as follows: 8 super rare, 20 rare, 500 fairly rare, and 1300 normal.
The Cryptobees are Tezos-based NFTs which means it’s a “clean” NFT since Tezos claims it uses less energy than other blockchains. You can get one Cryptobee for 20 to 250 XTZ. As of writing, this is around €70 and €890. You can also wait for the Reaverse sale at the end of April.
Cryptobee buyers will get a digital artwork and gain benefits such as access to the nature reserve. “Joining Reaverse means contributing to a sustainable project and being part of a community”, Guerlain said.
The project builds on the brand’s initiative last year when it auctioned off a series of NFT artworks to support the Vallée de la Millière project.
French photographer, director, and LVMH advisory board member Yann Arthus-Bertrand initiated the rewilding project for the 28 hectares of land.
Researchers use the area to reduce human impact on ecosystems. To date, they have identified more than 350 animal and plant species. Guerlain also has a female beekeeping entrepreneurship programme as part of LVMH’s partnership with Unesco.
