The Wave with Ukraine NFT collection is the latest collection raising money for Ukraine. The NFTs come from the Kyiv and Gothenburg-based NFT incubator, Ikonia, as part of its partnership with The Sandbox.
“Wave with Ukraine” looks to raise $2M for Ukrainian charities
There are 10,000 Wave with Ukraine NFTs available as of today, with the sale open for a two-week window. Each NFT costs $100. What’s more, buyers will be able to pay for the NFT using a credit or debit card, or crypto.
Notably, The Sandbox has committed to matching every 1 SAND spent on the NFT. In other words, this means that Wave with Ukraine could end up raising $2 million through the NFT sale.
Another key point is that the money will be split between three Ukrainian charities that Ikonia’s Ukrainian employees will vet. Of course, this money will go towards helping people affected by Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
After a user buys a Wave with Ukraine NFT, they will receive an animated video placeholder. Then, at the end of April, The Sandbox will airdrop the usable NFT to buyers’ wallets.
As noted above, Ikonia is an NFT incubator. Indeed, the Wave with Ukraine NFTs are a continuation of its mission. Namely, to enact positive change in the real world using the virtual world. In addition, given the number of Ikonia team members that are from Ukraine, this collection is close to the company’s heart. To that end, this is a way for Ikonia to preserve Ukraine in the metaverse.
