A new report by Morphisec reveals that Dark Web info stealers are targeting Metamask accounts and NFT holders. The report concludes with some shocking revelations. Hackers are using Mars Stealer (a piece of malicious software) to target crypto wallet holders.

Research suggests that Metamask accounts for 62.4% of stolen plugins using the software. This report is the latest example of why NFT security is so important and that you should be as vigilant as possible.

The Mars Stealer is the latest in a long line of software used by dark web info stealers. It follows the older Oski Stealer that was first discovered in June 2021 and is available to buy online across several dark web marketplaces. Worryingly, the software goes through constant updates, making it harder to detect.

What’s more, in recent months, as we have seen in the NFT space, people will often click on websites and links without taking proper precautions.

This particular software, highlighted by Morphisec and used by Dark web info stealers, is widely available online. Significantly, it costs as little as $160 and comes with a lifetime subscription.

Finally, it is a worrying example of how easy it is for people to buy this malicious and invasive software. Once, they have the software they can use it to conduct NFT scams.
