Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather is returning to the NFT space to launch a metaverse and NFT brand called ‘Mayweverse’. There is no official release date yet, but the project details are now available.
In fact, there are 5,000 Mayweverse NFTs. These are five different NFT cards, each with 1000 NFTs and featuring various rarity levels, utility and prizes.
The NFTs will appear in the likeness of Mayweather, and rumours are circulating about the prizes available. Reportedly, the metaverse contains a boxing gym. Perhaps the Mayweverse NFT prize includes a boxing lesson with the man himself.
Mayweverse is the latest NFT project by Floyd Mayweather
This project is the latest attempt by Floyd to make his mark on the NFT space after previously launching Floyd’s World and promoting several other NFT collections.
One Twitter user, @Coffeezilla, wrote that “Floyd Mayweather is frantically deleting evidence of his last NFT scam. He’s getting roasted by the investors.” Furthermore, it appears that many in the NFT community share this view. Floyd will need to prove these people wrong to make the Mayweverse successful.
Significantly, before Mayweverse, Floyd Mayweather had a somewhat controversial relationship with Crypto. Previously, Mayweather promoted a high-profile crypto scam called Centra Tech. This scam defrauded investors out of over $25 million in 2018. Mayweather and DJ Khaled had to pay enormous fines for promoting the project.
However, it is essential to note that there was no confirmation that the pair knew it was a scam. The Mayweverse NFT collection is launching soon, and more details will follow.
