Paris Saint-Germain FC takes one more step towards NFTs and the metaverse. On 16 March 2022, the football club filed a trademark application that includes NFTs and the metaverse. The community is now excited to see what moves PSG will take in the coming months. In the application, the PSG trademark will be used in many areas, but obviously we’re only interested in a few of those.
Paris Saint-Germain in the Metaverse
Firstly, the trademark application highlights the football club’s interest in the NFT space. Paris Saint-Germain filed for downloadable multimedia files containing video recordings, text, audio, and video relating to sports highlights. These will be authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs). It also includes downloadable image files containing trading cards and artwork authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
In addition, it is also clear that PSG is looking into cryptocurrencies. The company filed to provide a virtual currency for use by members of an online community via a global computer network. Besides, there was also cryptocurrency trading services and payment processing. Based on the filing, the company may even develop a crypto exchange.
Lastly, Paris Saint-Germain is looking into both fungible and non-fungible token-based goods. This includes clothing, bags, toys, sport articles, headphones, and many others for use offline and/or in online virtual worlds.
Paris Saint-Germain is a professional football club based in Paris, France. They compete in Ligue 1, the top division of French football. Currently, they stand at the top spot in the league. The club is by no means new to the NFT space. The team is already in collaboration with Socios.com for the PSG fan tokens.
