Yuga Labs Drops A Teaser For “Otherside” And We Can’t Wait

Have you seen Yuga Labs’ latest teaser for “Otherside”? I kid you not, exciting is an understatement. According to Yuga Labs, this project will launch in April 2022. With ApeCoin powering the project, the creators of the Bored Ape Yacht Club seems to have something big up their sleeves. At the time of writing, the teaser has almost a million views and speculations are flooding the NFT space.

Seriously, What’s going on?

It has certainly been a busy month for Yuga Labs. The team recently acquired CryptoPunks and Meebits, launched their ApeCoin crypto, and now this. Interestingly, the new project seems to involve other big name NFT projects such as Cool Cats, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, World of Women, CryptoPunks, and Meebits. According to @farokh, it may be a metaverse project, an NFT marketplace, or maybe they are looking to acquire more intellectual property.

In the teaser, the Bored Ape is seen drinking some sort of serum, bringing him into a whole new world. I wonder what that means. Besides, there are so many hints in the teaser, intentionally creating the suspense around the project. One literally has to watch the video multiple times to catch some of the subtle hints.

Otherside P2E?

To add on to the speculation, nWayPlay also announced a collaboration with BAYC a couple of days ago. The decentralized marketplace platform will incorporate ApeCoin in their new play-to-earn game. On the same day, nWayPlay also revealed a teaser image of the new P2E game, which features the same ape in the latest Yuga Labs teaser video. Am I supposed to believe that the announcements and characters are just a coincidence? It’s really hard to.

On the other hand, Animoca Brands also released an announcement on 17 March regarding their P2E game that incorporates ApeCoin. Are all these P2E announcements following the ApeCoin launch date, or can it be pointing to something bigger? Don’t forget, Animoca Brands is one of the larger contributors to ApeCoin. Currently, the company’s P2E game, Benji Bananas, is using ApeCoin as a token to transact in-game NFTs.

According to CoinGecko, ApeCoin sits at #66 according to its market capitalization. The crypto has risen in value over the past two days, doubling the initial trading price. At the time of writing, it is trading at $14.09. Although it is still in its infancy, Yuga Labs has made it clear that ApeCoin will be the center of their ecosystem. This may have contributed to the spike in price and trading volume.
