Official Ukraine NFT Will Be “A Museum Of The Russian-Ukrainian War”

The official NFT collection from Ukraine is in the works. Of course, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is in its third week. Thus, the NFT collection is in support of Ukraine’s defense efforts. In addition, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Digital Transformation, Alex Bornyakov, has said that the official Ukraine NFT collection will be, “like a museum of the Russian-Ukrainian war.”

Official Ukraine NFT will take time to craft

To sum up, Ukraine has been prepping an official NFT drop for a couple of weeks. Indeed, The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov first announced the NFT plans on March 3rd. In fact, the Ukrainian government had first planned an airdrop for people who had donated crypto but switched its plans to instead drop an NFT collection.

To that end, Bornyakov spoke to The Guardian to share some details about the upcoming NFTs. Elaborating on the idea that the NFTs would be like a museum telling the story of the war, he said that Ukraine wanted to tell its story to the world using NFTs.

In essence, the official Ukraine NFTs will be pieces of art that represent different stories from trusted news sources. Bornyakov added, “We want it to be cool, good-looking, and it takes time.”

Crypto has been a massive resource for Ukraine

Overall, crypto and NFTs have had an immense and unexpected impact over the course of the conflict in Ukraine. For one thing, the NFT space was quick to rally in response to Russia’s invasion. A number of NFT projects have sprung up over the past few weeks to raise funds for Ukraine.

On the other hand, Ukraine has been soliciting donations in crypto as well. In the early days of the conflict, Ukrainian officials publicized its Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet addresses. Since then it has raised millions of dollars in donations for its defense efforts.

Earlier today Bornyakov tweeted out Ukraine’s latest crypto announcement. In short, the Ukrainian government has worked with FTX and everstake to create a website where people can donate many different cryptocurrencies. According to the site, Ukraine has raised about $43.3 million in crypto until this point.

All things considered, it’s certainly encouraging to see how Ukraine has been able to use blockchain technology to its benefit during this time. To be sure, many believers in the crypto space have pointed to what has happened so far as proof of what can be achieved using cryptocurrency and NFTs.
