Shortly after her December debut on the NFT scene, pop icon Katy Perry returns with a second drop on ThetaDrop. The “Witness Dice Collection” will launch via the environmentally-friendly NFT marketplace.
Accordingly, the collectibles feature key moments from the singer’s 2017-2018 Witness Tour. Moreover, this exclusive drop is celebrating Katy Perry’s outstandingly successful “Play” residency at the Resorts World Las Vegas hotel.
Katy Perry’s ThetaDrop NFTs: What you should know
Today, March 4th, international superstar Katy Perry joins forces with ThetaDrop for a second NFT collection. Surprisingly, the collection will include a 1:1 NFT of two giant dice. This unique digital asset is a reference to Perry’s “Roulette” performance during the Witness Tour.
What’s more, each collectible will provide holders with exclusive benefits. For example, fans will gain access to special merchandise. The singer will also launch an unlockable “Nostalgia Store” available for NFT holders only.
In fact, Head of Partnerships at Theta Labs Kyle Laffey revealed Katy Perry’s delight for the NFT space. “While many stars remain skeptical about Web3, Katy has been hands-on with her ThetaDrop NFTs and is super excited about the utility element with her unlockable “Nostalgia Store” coming soon,” he said for NFT Evening.
Celebrating the “Play” Las Vegas residency
Both of Katy Perry’s NFT collections launched on ThetaDrop celebrate the singer’s Las Vegas residency called “Play”. Surprisingly, the performer extended her show with performances on May 27 – June 11 and July 29 to August 13 – all by popular demand.
Nevertheless, the artist’s debut NFT drop was successful too. In fact, “The Roar Package” collection sold out in just 95 minutes. This means Katy Perry broke a new record on ThetaDrop, surpassing $1.2M in primary NFT sales.
Of course, Katy Perry isn’t the only musician to drop NFTs. In recent months, we’ve seen artists such as rapper LATASHA sell out their collectibles within minutes. Furthermore, Universal Music recently teamed up with Curio. Together, they will drop many NFT collectibles for fans starting this year. In short, the musical artists’ NFT journey is just getting started!
“This shift to NFTs will be even more dramatic than when the music industry went from selling CDs, to purchasing per-song on iTunes, to today’s streaming-based music world,” says Laffey. “And to think, we’re just scratching the surface of what’s possible with music and entertainment NFTs.”
