Recently, Metamask and OpenSea banned users from Iran and Venezuela due to recent US sanctions laws. Twitter user @UnknownCo123 addresses other alternatives to accessing NFTs for Venezuelan or Iran-based users.
Before beginning, please note that any amount of NFTs or ETH is not lost. The platform has just blocked their services for some countries. More importantly, no one can delete or steal crypto from users.
How to access your NFTs?
Basically, there are two major ways for accessing NFTs in blocked countries. User @UnknownCo123 points out that users can access the NFTs via a VPN. Using a VPN, on the other hand, may result in a permanent ban from the website. As a result, that is not advised. The other way is to try different sites like Looksrare that can display OpenSea NFTs.
Moreover, if users have their own smart contract on manifold.xyz, they can easily move their collection to every site that the platform allows. For the uninitiated, Manifold. xyz is a new Canadian NFT minting company built on Ethereum. It aims to help artists fully own their NFTs through the use of smart contract technology.
Currently, users are currently dissatisfied with recent bans and inability to access their NFTs. They are consistently demanding a fully decentralized platform. Besides, US sanction laws state that American companies will not provide goods and services to any user in a sanctioned country. The US sanction list includes Iran, North Korea, Syria and Russia.
Concerning the NFT access issues in Venezuela and Iran, the wallet provider made a statement. They said, “services will not be available to users in certain jurisdictions due to legal compliance.”
