Metalink Integrates Chainlink VRF, Creating A New NFT Giveaway Standard

Metalink, a social app for NFT communities, has now integrated Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) to provide cryptographic randomness to platform giveaways. To put it simply, Chainlink’s Verifiable Random Function will power Metalink’s random giveaways for NFT collections.

This new integration will also increase transparency by multiple folds.

To begin Metalink is a platform for verified owners of NFTs to communicate and share their portfolios. Now, the integration will serve multiple benefits and utilities. These include increased transparency, a greater standard of randomness when determining award recipients. What’s more, the frontend features and launchpad process will now be available to any collection hosted on Metalink. This will further enable collections to run verifiably random giveaways.

Previously, Chainlink tested the approach at the end of last year. Successfully, the strategy proved beneficial in coordinating a number of high profile NFT giveaways. For instance, Coolman’s Universe launched on the launchpad in late 2021 and has already achieved a trading volume of over $50 million.

How will the integration work out?

All in all, the integration will strengthen Metalink’s commitment to security as a platform hosting the most valuable NFT collections. Given that, Metalink’s first 3000 collectors accounted for more than 9.12% of OpenSea ‘s $3.65B August revenue. Interestingly, the new standard of using Chainlink VRF for verifiably free giveaways will debut with a DeadFellaz collector giveaway. Moreover, winners will be able to personalize their Air Force Ones with NFT from the collection.

The integration enables Metalink’s collections to easily implement Chainlink’s VRF in their giveaways without the need to create their own smart contracts.

Role of Chainlink :

Chainlink’s decentralized oracle networks, in general, enable advanced smart contract use on any blockchain. This is accomplished by using tamper-proof inputs, outputs, and computations.

In terms of operation, Chainlink VRF generates a random number and a cryptographic proof. This is accomplished by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the private key. Whereas, the Metalink smart contract will only accept random number input if it has valid cryptographic proof. Finally, Metalink giveaways are supported by low-cost, provable randomness. As a result, the integration is extremely resistant to tampering by users, node operators, and malicious actors.
