Ali Sabet is dropping an open-edition NFT for the benefit of Ukraine. He is donating 100% of the profits of his “Freedom Flowers 2022 Sabet” art piece. As an Iranian – American born and raised in war, this is a very personal initiative for the top-selling artist. He shared that “he can relate deeply to the pain and suffering that is happening in the country.”
Sabet’s Charity Drop for Ukraine
Freedom Flowers 2022 Sabet is an open edition selling for 0.08 ($234) with no gas fees. The piece features Sabet’s signature contemporary art and character design with eye-catching colors. The female portrait with distorted features has the same vibe as his commercially successful projects: Tokyo Punks, Pixopop and Ugly Kitties.
Sabet will donate the proceeds to a reputable non-profit organization providing relief to the people of Ukraine. In just a few hours, the auction has sold 8 NFTs. Sabet’s official announcement on Twitter is garnering positive messages and support that’s why the charity auction is gaining momentum. With 32 days to go, this will surely be another display of how the NFT community can come together for a good cause.
NFT Community Coming Together for Ukraine
NFTs are proving to be an effective way to raise money for charity. This segment is progressing well because NFTs actually gamify the process. Gone are the days of just collecting money, pooling it together and then turning it over to the beneficiary. Now, NFT Charity Donations translates to doing an exciting NFT Drop with proceeds going to worthy causes.

The country also launched an official fundraising drive. As soon as th community confirmed that the wallet address was legit, donations started pouring from Ether to BTC and USDT. In just two days, users from all across the world have donated over $13 million so far.
Meanwhile, Pussy Riot’s Nadezhda Tolokonnikova has launched a new Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), UkraineDAO, to raise funds for Ukrainians. Then, the highly-anticipated NFT project Weather Report delayed its drop one day as a sign of solidarity to Ukraine.

Sabet was recently embroiled in a controversy. Basically, OpenSea suddenly delisted CryptoMories. Everyone thought it was just one of the many tech issues plaguing the marketplace after migrating its contract. Apparently, Sabet got the project delisted submitted a DCMA takedown of the project as he feels that one of the CryptoMories is an infringement of his copyright.
The NFT artist received backlash because of the issue, particularly from the CryptoMories community. Fortunately, the two parties have sorted things out. So CryptoMories is trading on OpenSea again. Meanwhile, Sabet has taken down his DMCA claim. The two parties reached a “simple agreement that ensures a thriving space.”
So these days, the artist is busy with his upcoming NFT collection. The new drop features 4850 NFTs based on 333 hand-painted Healing Codes by Sabet. Each one promises intrinsic and practical utility.
