Yesterday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski dropped one of his trademark WOJ bombs as he reported that Jalen Green has agreed to join Coinbase as an official partner. Coinbase now has two elite NBA players on their side: the Houston Rockets’ Jalen Green and the Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant. Durant, an avid crypto enthusiast joined Coinbase as a collaborator last December.
Coinbase provides the rookie sensation with a new way to connect with his fanbase, create, and express himself. On the other hand, Jalen is an excellent candidate in Coinbase’s vision to enlighten more people regarding cryptocurrencies. As a “modern-day renaissance athlete”, Jalen can help to educate the younger generation and how they can leverage crypto to secure their financial future.
An exciting aspect of this partnership is the collaboration on an exclusive line of NFTs. This collection will help Jalen with fan engagement in the near future. In conjunction with the announcement, Angel Wang created a custom space-inspired piece of art for the NBA player. There is still no indication of the nature of Jalen’s NFTs, but this artwork could be a teaser to what’s coming our way.
Jalen Green
Jalen Green is an NBA player representing the Houston Rockets. The 6’4″ shooting guard was a consensus five-star recruit in high school, with ESPN ranking him number one overall. Besides, the rookie out of Fresno was also named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup.
The number 2 overall pick showed out in yesterday’s NBA All-Star Rising Stars Challenge in Cleveland. Jalen scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting. With windmill dunks and step back 3s, he definitely put on a show to grab the win. As we enter the All-Star break, he has been averaging 14.6 PPG, representing one of the core pieces on the Rockets in his rookie season.
